Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Qin Gang's Remarks on the U.S. House of Representatives Adopting the So-Called Resolution to Recognize the 30th Anniversary of the Taiwan Relations Act
2009-03-26

Q:On March 24, the U.S. House of Representatives adopted a so-called resolution to recognize the 30th anniversary of the Taiwan Relations Act. What's your comment on that?

A:China expresses strong dissatisfaction to the U.S. House of Representatives over its adoption of the so-called resolution to recognize the 30th anniversary of the Taiwan Relations Act in defiance of the firm objection. China has already lodged a solemn representation to the US side.

From the very beginning, the Chinese Government and people have been firmly opposed to the so-called Taiwan Relations Act unilaterally enacted by the US. We urge the US side to follow the basic norms guiding international relations and the three Sino-U.S. Joint Communiqués, and stop the erroneous act of using the Taiwan issue to interfere in China's internal affairs.
