To celebrate the centenary of the Communist Party of China, the Chinese Consulate General in Calgary published an article entitled “Centennial Memories of Leadership: Six Lesser-known Stories of China” in Calgary Herald, Edmonton Journal, Saskatoon StarPhoenix and Regina Leader Post.

The article says, “ it was in these 100 years that the Chinese people, under the outstanding leadership, fought for national independence and liberation, established the People’s Republic of China---- a new country governed by the people, and eventually realized the great leaps from standing up to becoming advanced and strong.”

The six stories are as follows:

----“Food coupons” once more valuable than money

----The termination of the millennial agricultural tax

----Ethnic minority characters on the currencies

----Unbelievable China-Speed

----A TV series for beginners to understand China

----Why can women hold up half the sky
